Meet Dr. Egan

Tara Egan, D.Ed., founder of Charlotte Parent Coaching, has over 15 years of experience working with parents and children.

Dr. Egan has worked in the public school setting as a school psychologist, a clinician in a mental health facility, and as an adjunct professor. She has worked in several states, including Maryland, Minnesota, New York, and North Carolina. She is the author of a parenting book called Best Practices for Ages 2-10: Small Miracles That Work Like Magic(Lesson Ladder, 2013), and is currently working on additional parenting books that address issues related to parenting preteens and adolescents. In addition, she has provided training to both individuals and groups on topics such as best practices in parenting, behavioral management of children, navigating the special education process in the schools, parenting in the digital world, parent-teacher communication, and academic and behavioral interventions for use in the classroom.

Dr. Egan has two children, a girl and a boy, and enjoys reading, writing, and exercise.  Every day her children remind her that of all her job responsibilities, being a parent is her most important role thus far.

Her credentials include:

Doctor of Education (D.Ed.) in School Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with particular emphasis on family-school relations

Masters of Arts/Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (MA/CAGS) in School Psychology from George Mason University, with particular emphasis on counseling techniques.

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the State University of New York at Geneseo (SUNY Geneseo)

Certification in Secondary Education, 5-12, Social Studies from SUNY Geneseo

Doctoral-level research in best practices in Functional Behavioral Assessment and Behavioral Intervention Plans with children who are struggling behaviorally both in the home and school setting.
